According to a recent study summarized in AGD Impact and published in the Journal of Structural Biology, tooth regeneration may soon replace fillings. The study focused on regrowing dentin in damaged teeth with the help of a calcium-containing solution of ions. The solution allows some parts of teeth to be remineralized. So in the future, regrowing tooth structure lost due to decay or trauma may be able to be replaced with the same material that was lost!
